Ceramics bookings got easier!

Hello, Ceramics team!
We have changes in the horizon.
From today on, you don’t need to book Slab Roller, Extruder, or Glazing area spot anymore!
You only have to book space at the studio (wheel or table) , the rest of the equipment usage is implied!
This is part of a project to make members experience friendlier, as well as better understand usage of our assets.

There are more changes coming, but for now, what I will urge all Ceramics folks to do - members, volunteers and also staff - is ALWAYS book on Skedda.
If you need a wheel and space at the table, book both.
If you need two spaces at the table because you are working on large projects: book 2 spaces.
We need those numbers to show what is our capacity usage, and at what times is our studio most crowded.
Just to make it clearer: the slab roller, glazing area and extruder can be used without booking, AS LONG AS you have a table or wheel also booked.
We hope that this simplification will make members experiences better, while also allowing ASMBLY to understand our assets usage and where to invest next.

Hey Ceramics Folks!

In an attempt to keep the space welcoming and available to our members, here’s some more details on the booking updates:

  • Always Book on Skedda. If you are in the space and using a workspace, you must be booked on Skedda. This is for members, volunteers, leads, and staff. It will help us more accurately determine usage and more importantly help members understand what is available before coming to the shop.
  • Two to a Work Table. Each table will be allocated to support two bookable ceramics users. If you are on a throwing wheel, needing and able to share a table, please do so responsibly. We understand some projects need a little extra space at times. If you find yourself taking up space that completely inhibits another person to work in that space, please be responsible and book two spaces in Skedda. Yes, the latter will count hours for each booking.
  • Extruder Table. This will have some availability for dedicated bookings when not in use by the Kiln Operators.

Other enhancements are in the works to help free up table space, and free up space for more tables. Please continue to send in feedback to @julirenner or on Discourse on how the space can be improved to serve you all!

And if you’re handy with a drill or comfortable hanging a few things, please reach out as well to directly impact the space.

Happy Clay-ing!
