I have some large engine parts and have heard sending away to a machine shop to hot tank is very much worth it (vs DIY scrubbing with solvents). Does anyone have any experience sending blocks / heads / trans housings to a machine shop to clean, and can you recommend one in the area?
It’s been about a year since we used them, but Lefords Machine Shop in Waco is a great shop. We’ve never had them only clean something, but everything We’ve had machined comes back clean.
The lady on the phone can be “fun” to talk to, but helpful.

I’d just be cautious about the final cleaning. They may put it in the tank, but may not brush out the oil passes and such.
