After a short struggle, our “builder grade” dishwasher appears to have given up the ghost. I was shopping replacements earlier today when Lindsay pointed out that we have a nice new dishwasher sitting in storage that we bought to go in our main house once construction is complete. The other dishwasher fits the space and would be a nice upgrade from the current model, but the current dishwasher has a stainless front and handle and the potential replacement we have in stock requires a panel.
I’m still open to buying a new dishwasher with a stainless front if that makes the most sense, but figured I would sanity check here on my options for making or getting a new panel made to match the existing cabinetry fronts in this house.
Unfortunately I still can’t attach pictures at my current user level, but the kitchen cabinet doors at this house are painted and what I would call shaker style with embellished moldings on the rails and styles. I’m sure these could be done with the right router bit if you could figure out what bit to use.
- In your opinion is this a “build” or “buy” project?
- If “build”, how do you best go about matching the curves and detail work on the rails and styles?
- I’m sure a shop could fab a door and paint match off a sample door. Are there local shops you recommend for that?
- If you’ve gone this route in terms of trying to get a panel matched and installed, would you recommend it? Or just recommend we go with a stainless front and keep it simple?
Appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
