On Saturday while working on milling wood with the planer for the new expansion doors, the vacuum hose ended up tearing and it stopped sucking up the wooden chips. We had trouble fitting it back over the port on the trash can lid. We were able to temporarily fix it by cutting it and then wrapping duct tape around it where it meets the port, but this is obviously not a great permanent solution.
Does this kind of issue happen often? If so, would it make sense to design a custom hose connector to allow for quick repair when the hoses break? Or does a part like that already exist?
