The old bag-style dust collector is out, the new yellow bagless is in.
Upon the first run, it immediately pulled chunks and dust from inside the line. Although I vacuumed the white pipe, the clear pipe just looks cleaner already.
The Highlights You Need to Know
- NO BAGS. Do not use a bag in this. (See below in potential upgrades)
- There’s a remote attached to the key for the CNC.
- There is a red light to help indicate if the bin is filling up during a session.
- Emptying the bin AND cleaning the filter are required after every use.
- Report and issues seen, heard, smelled, felt, etc.
The Big CNC Wiki page has been updated to reflect the added required procedure of cleaning the filter after every use. Fortunately it takes about 30 seconds. Doing so will mean significantly less dust in the air and reduced maintenance cost and time.

Potential Modifications or Upgrades Pending Time or Funding
Oneida sent a free upgrade kit for this which includes added safety to prevent overheating. It is not a recall, just simply something they add on their newer models. The parts and instructions are in the mail bag.
Something to keep the drum from slamming on the ground while filter cleaning is in progress. I’m not worried about the drum but moreso noise and startling folks.
55-Gallon Drum Dolly. I don’t expect this to be much different than the old setup, but a dolly certainly adds a quality of life improvement.
Add an extra trash can to the collection line to help separate bigger chunks. Not sure if this is needed at this time.
Bags. If these are ever used, the clear hose needs to be reconnected to the drum and the line opened with the red lever. This helps keep the bag open. Using this line without a bag will immediately clog the filter. It is currently disconnected and likely will stay that way.
