Big CNC Dust Collector Just Got Easier

The Oneida has been replaced with something a bit more manageable.

Issues with the Oneida Setup

  • Drum too heavy
  • Filter cleaning a bit weird
  • Filter maintenance difficult
  • No separator (not exclusive to the Oneida, just an issue with the setup).
  • $800 annual expected maintenance bill for replacing burnt out motors (1100 hour life expectancy at $350 to replace)

With some money from the Dust Collector funds, we have a new setup!

  • Grizzly G0944 Dust Collector (a step-up from the little CNC DC).
  • Yes I know it’s a bag, but it can actually be reached and cleaned by one person easily.
  • Filter maintenance is super easy. Rotate the handle, hear the flaps
  • Oneida 6” separator to reduce buildup in the filter and bag.
  • No significant cost for annual maintenance
  • Upgraded to 6” hoses, mostly metal pipe.

The rules haven’t changed. When you’re done with your CNC operation, clean the filter, empty the separator and the bag.

Workday cleaning steps would include dropping the filter and blowing it out. The suction is only as good as that filter is clean.

Big thank you to @morrism14 and @ewei for hooking it all up better than I did. And to @tonyjrice for helping me the other day!
