Best “free” website option?

Folks, Good afternoon…

I am using WIX.com to host my domain / website content and they have discontinued the low level plan I was on and I am looking at $450 for a 3 year plan now upon renewal.

What wysiwg website are fellow makers using?

I am not looking for anything as elegant as wix, but need something free or way cheaper.

(I am not taking orders, doing email or billing through the site - I handle all that through my Square acct!)

See: www.livingontheedgewoodwork.com for its current state…

Thanks in advance, Steve

That looks like a static website. Should cost next-to-nothing to host. Possibly useful: Reddit - Dive into anything

Multiple free options in there, or free enough to kick this problem down the road.

Untested option - but may be worth checking out.

(1) Web Editor - Use a local, graphical web site editor. Quick research shows that a modern equivalent to Adobe Dreamweaver is https://pinegrow.com/. From the videos, looks simple & powerful.

(2) Copy Files -You can use a file transfer app (on Mac, I use https://cyberduck.io/) to copy the files to a server.

(3) Server - you can use Amazon AWS S3 (cloud storage), and AWS CloudFront (caching) to serve your static HTML files.

Let me know if you want a hand with the mission -happy to help out.

I’ll second Amazon Web Services’s free tier for small sites. I run a build server off the free tier and it’s been fine. I’ve also used neocities.org for totally static sites.
