Bent Lamination Jig Build

Hey Makers! especially Woodshop folks!

I’m working on a breakfast nook bench and I’m challenging myself to make a curved end on one side. In order to get the shaker-style frame at the base the right shape, I’m considering doing some bent-lamination to get curve I’m going for. To do this, I’m thinking of building a jig that’ll help glue and set the thin laminate pieces into the right shape. I’m thinking of a semi-circle jig then cutting it in half to get the quarter-turn curve I’m going for.

Two questions for the community:

  1. Has anyone done this sort of thing before and would be willing to offer some guidance?
  2. If/when I build this jig, is there any interest in keeping it in the shop for more semi-circle pieces?

There’s a YouTube video from Keith Johnson who does a good illustration of what I’m going for.

Is this the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWk_ZB3hcvY

No not that one. Discourse is not letting me use a link so look up " Bending wood for furniture…tips, tricks and techniques."

That’s the one!
