MCAD and Bambu Labs Contract needs:
i’ve got a small e-commerce gig called @motorrad3DP making motorcycle parts for older BMW motorcycles. i started it during covid just out a love of 3D and also these motorcycles. so far it’s just been a very expensive hobby but i’ve learned a lot. that said i should also say i’ve been doing various 3D printed and CAD work since 2000.
i’m looking for locals interested in some periodic contract work for the following:
needs:
- mechanical CAD (MCAD) production based on existing parts and/ot modifications.
- someone willing to print existing (and future) files so i can concentrate on standing up sales.
bonus points:
- familiar with Rhino3D and/or Grasshopper.
- experience working on fixing mechanical things like motorcycles.
- access to Bambi Labs printing (i’ve been getting prints in powder based professional materials but i’m told Bambu Labs will print objects that are good enough for retail.
- ASMBLY member.
- good with fit-up and knowledgeable about engineering tolerances as it relates to 3D printers.
- able to produce a quick dimensioned drawing on my plot sheet so we have documentation on what tolerances we are trying to hold.
- familiarity with long term durability of printed materials in automotive environments (i have to be sure these parts will last and stand up to abuse).
- local to austin texas
- i’m also interested in manufacturing in other processes and in other materials so my hope is to find someone familiar with (or that also has access to) other processes.
- mathematical background or artistic background or architectural background would be helpful for some other longer term projects i hope to re-start here shortly.
- you get in to sustin now abd then do if we run into a gnarly problem we can troubleshoot in person.
i tend to work with people that pass the test over a very long period of time but for the meantime i am trying to keep costs down. so to the extent anyone understands this and is willing to get started with reasonable up front costs as we get started this would be helpful.
