WANTED: Old/crappy cordless circular saw to turn into weird art!
Hoping that someone out there has a cordless circular saw that might have otherwise seen better days, but is either working or at least plausibly repairable.
My project is semi-secret (oooh, mysterious!), but rest assured that bedazzling is involved… and possibly integrated blinkenlightzen! This saw will live a fabulous and admired new life, even if it never cuts wood again. (OK, it’s not really secret, but explaining the project would be a possible spoiler for this year’s Scare for a Cure show… )
An older or cheap-ish model that doesn’t quite have enough oomph to actually cut wood would be perfect. Willing to buy a new battery if needed, just don’t want to buy a brand new tool just to rip it apart for mods.
…and the craigslist poster got back to me: already sold. Not so surprising since the listing was a month old, but hey at least the poster replied quickly.
Thanks again for the lead and the idea to put a watch on Craigslist, @atwatsoniii! It’s been easy to forget that’s still a thing.
Thanks, but definitely looking for cordless. A performer will need to be able to carry this around without worrying about cord issues. Any battery system is fine (12/18/20V) as long as it either has a battery and charger or we can find replacements for reasonable prices.
This is in Bastrop. I can pick it up for you, and bring it to Asmbly.
You could also go the harbor freight route. Circular saw tool only is 39.99, batteries and charger kits are pricey, but if you need a drill you can get a tool/ battery/ charger for 60.
