I want to build Mr. Pete’s float-lock vise. Here are the plans: https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=e96af4da37912e31&id=E96AF4DA37912E31!217&authkey=!AApvrAFtXVYd5-c . Going to follow Quinn’s video: Acme Thread Cutting! Making a Float-Lock Vise, Part 1 - YouTube .
I need to put some ACME 1/2" 10 threads on a rod and inside one of the vise heads.
Do we have that tooling? If not, would love recommendations to purchase. First time buying tools so any advice is welcome.
Thanks!
Robert

I haven’t looked real hard. I’m pretty sure we don’t have an acme thread tool.

We don’t intentionally have acme taps or dies, and I’m pretty sure we don’t have any random taps of any kind that big.
We have an external single-point threading tool for the lathe; with an Acme-profile insert it should do the job nicely for the rod. You’re probably best off buying a tap for the head.

Cool. Looks like a good spot to shop local for gear. Thanks!

American Bolt is better than any bolt store in town.
