Absorbing Heat?

I am new to 3D printing and have a general question. When I load up a project to print on the XL it heats up and then before it actually starts printing it goes into this status where it says it’s absorbing heat. Sometimes this takes like 5 minutes. It basically cools down and then heats back up before starting the print. Is this normal? User error? I appreciate any insight!

That’s a normal feature of the XL, it’s warming up all of the printer’s components to increase the accuracy of the machine. The XL’s frame changes size slightly based on it’s temperature, so if the printer levels itself when it’s at room temperature it’ll be out of level soon after the print starts.

I think it can be skipped, it’s likely not required for small quick prints or filaments that have good adhesion like PLA, but if there’s no rush then it’s overall going to result in better prints.
