It is likely that the belt tracked too far in one direction or the other and hit a limit switch. This is a safety to prevent the belt from tracking completely off.

There are some instructions on the inside of the maintenance door for how to re-callibrate. However, please don’t try this if you’re not sure what you’re doing. Small adjustments are needed and it is easy to tear a belt.

New belts have also been ordered in case the current one is too worn or stretched.

There were a few issues with the sander yesterday afternoon. I corrected two of them and will try to address the third tomorrow morning.

  1. The belt was tracking too far to the right and was not actuating or adjusting while running. I corrected the tracking and reset the belt.
  2. The rear component with the flat metal piece and clear plastic container underneath it was installed backward and was not secured with screws. I’m not sure why it was left that way, but it was not caused by vibration. I reinstalled and secured it properly.
  3. The thickness reading is not aligned with the thickness adjustment switch on the left side. This typically only happens when someone manually changes the settings. I did not reset it yesterday, but I’ll try to take care of it tomorrow morning.
