Problem Type: Equipment
Workspace: 3D Printing

Summary: Chantico - Filament clog
Additional Info: The filament got clogged and was no longer able to advance. I got it removed and reloaded it. It prepares to print but then says the cutting arm is stuck. I put it in the correct position but it feels like there is filament stuck at the nozzle.

Chantico is back up and running after my session yesterday. I suspect that there was some heat creep in some way that caused an extruder jam.

The filament hanging out in the ptfe tube would not move at all. After disassembling, you can see the T shape that had worn in somehow. This is one reason I suspect heat was too high for the filament, or crept up to soften. I don’t know what kind of filament that is, it seems fairly tough.

The hotend is awaiting some work to salvage it. It’s fine, but jammed. Nozzle has been up to max temperature and cleared the hot side. Cold side is jammed. My next ideas are to use a soldering iron or heat gun to get it out, or a 1mm drill bit.

I resolved this by stealing the hotend from zephyrus because we have a nozzle upgrade for that machine coming up. I’ll post about that in a bit
