3DP volunteer day - Oct 18

It’s time for another printer work day! 11:30-2:30 on Sunday. As always, we’ll have some basic maintenance to do, but we also have a few projects ready to move on our reorganization:

  1. Assemble the 48" shelving unit - we finally have all the parts!
  2. Find a way to determine the best paver layering for vibration isolation. Test prints on Bastet/Chantico? Dial indicator and print a benchy?
  3. Move the ‘hot’ printers to the newly assembled shelves: Zephyrus, the method x, and the Prusa XL.
  4. Add diagonal bracing to the 6’ shelf, and maybe the 4’ if it’s racking.
  5. Brainstorm printed shelf accessories, filament dryer attachments, and filament spool locations for any of the moved printers!

Bonus: if we get things done quick, I’d like to follow up with a bit of CAD discussion - like doing CAD in the slicer! Just because it’s the worst tool for the job doesn’t mean I haven’t done it sometimes

I’ll demonstrate by creating a slicer only infill sample for the cabinet, with whatever suggestions people have. We’ll take the T for Team
