2024 October CNC SIG Recap

All,

Welcome to the October 2024 CNC Special Interest Group (SIG) Recap! Recorded zoom session is included at the end of this post.

First, we had @bwatt discuss with us different approaches he took with Michael to perfect his joinery approach to designing the fanciest trash I’ve ever seen! Picture was taken from his SLIDE SHOW because I was so enamored with throwing garbage in this masterpiece that I forget to take a real-life picture!

@Christopher then brought some bamboo for us to brainstorm about. Some thoughts were setting up a shishi-odoshi (a water catcher) or wind chimes!

Next, @jamesfreeman shared with us some of his work, but my favorite has got to be this airplane that I DID NOT break the propeller off of. It was definitely @SteveW because I was standing far away from it.

Finally, @SteveW shared with us some of his incredible work making piggy banks and MASSIVE cutting boards.

That’s the recap of this month’s meeting, and I think many people are becoming properly prepared for the upcoming Maker Market in November.

We are also adding a CNC Saloon option for people who gotten enough CNC to quell their addictions. @SteveW has a fantastic write-up about it in this post: Introducing the CNC Salon

Hope to see you all at the next CNC meeting on Sunday, November 3rd at 9am in the MultiPurpose Room (MPR) at Asmbly! This will be the last meeting in preparation of the 2024 Maker Market on November 16th-17th. More information on the 2024 Maker Market is linked here: https://asmbly.org/events/maker-market/

Great recap @Joaquim :call_me_hand:t2::call_me_hand:t2::call_me_hand:t2: I absolutely love these SIG meet ups as I learn so much from y’all!

I’m pretty sure @jamesfreeman incredible Red Baron took damage in a dog fight and THAT’S why @SteveW definitely did not break off the propeller although we may need to get VAR (video assisted referee) involved for a proper ruling and possible red card :wink:

I cannot wait for for the CNC Salon and next month’s SIG!

I didn’t touch the red baron! There is no proof of that!!

The Red Barron suffered damage during her initail test flight to the CNC SIG. Luckily after a trip back to the Asmbly hanger, she’s better than new!!

Did anyone else see a beagle on a flying doghouse then?
