Tailstock and banjo (tool rest holder) are in bad condition.
The tailstock will not retract completely and is very difficult to move. I’ve attempted disassembly of this a while back and haven’t been able to fix anything on it. This needs a replacement.
The banjo is not locking properly on the tool rest posts. Even with an extreme locking pressure applied (and too much in normal cases), the tool rest is prone to sliding around and falling through vibrations. I’ve tried with another tool rest as well, so I’m confident saying this is the banjo.
I was able to do some light turning on this last night, so while inconvenient it is still possible to work with. I would save bigger projects or more agressive style of turning for the other lathes for the time being.
