There was clearly a problem when I made my first cut. I confirmed DC wasn’t pulling air. I started cleaning it out but quit. Whoever was cutting walnut today really packed this thing.

There is a supposed to be a black plastic door with a hinge pin on one side and magnets on the other covering the blade area. It is not present in this photo.

This contains the dust collector airflow. Without it, the dust will not be sucked through the blade insert, and much of what does end up below the insert spills out into the interior of the housing.

The air hose shown here is attached on either side with worm drive clamps with blue plastic thumb grips. Those should not be used here.

This is the required type:

I agree withDanny about the clamps. The door has been missing for a while. The failure here is dust collection. Right now there is not a lot of suction being pulled by the dust collector. I was trouble shooting the router a while ago and it wasn’t picking up hardly anything. Had to use a shop vac. Anyway, another culprit is that often thin cut-offs get sucked into the hose and get trapped at the “Y” junction. I will not be surprised if someone disconnects the hose while the DC is off and a pile of them fall out. Still the DC needs to be blowed. You also have the blast gate failing at the jointer. For some reason that particular gate has problems when the suction falls below par by the DC. When the dust collection is functioning right the Sawstop #1 should function OK without the part that is missing. However I’m very surprised that Danny did not suggest to 3D print the part from some weird plastic filament to make it better (just kidding). I’m sorry I did not have the time to look at some of this stuff but….

That’s why you need a crap trap at the saw outlet. Not a lot of room to drop but it works.

All that central dust collection is going obsolete anyways. It can be done much better and cleaner without ducts at all
