A good practice I have used for ensuring straight cuts on a bandsaw, is to find a way to put a kerf in the piece. Bandsaw blades tend to find the path of least resistance regardless of if it is aligned properly or not. So for larger stock particularly, if I can put a small kerf about an eighth of an inch or a quarter an inch on the top and the bottom, the blade tends to track much better.
I use that technique when I can . I had hoped that it was potentially due to my technique or possibly the wood I was cutting but another member tried soon after with pine and experienced the same issue. There are a couple of other hacks that can be used for it.
