Issue type: Equipment Problem
Area: CNC
Equipment: Laguna Small CNC
Summary: Small CNC stopped reading usb drive
Additional Info: I loaded a file and program ran fine. Tried to load another file and it took a very long time ‘reading’ the drive, and then eventually came back with a message saying nothing was there. Tried several drives, none of them could be read.

Rebooting the controller often fixes this.

Rebotting did fix it, and I ran subsequent jobs after this with a problem. However, you lose the work orgin by rebooting. Due to how it was programmed, it was not possible to re-zero in this instance (machined away). So, I was not able to finish that part.

IIRC, others have reported this behavior as well; this is not the first time it happened.

I didn’t think of it at the time, but I could have tried writing down the machine coordinates. I am not sure how repeatable that is.

Do we plan to install the new handheld controller on the IQ ?

You lost your coordinates during a reboot? I’m surprised to hear that

I assumed my zero would be lost after reboot. I didn’t try it.

Workspace coordinates persist through a reboot, but I advice making sure you’re in the same workspace and that the z zero hasn’t changed (it’s rare that z changes, but potentially catastrophic if it does)

That’s exactly what I do. I send it to X=Y=0 to confirm, then re-zero Z.
