I’m not aware of any other members with glaze mixing experience who have expressed interest in taking that on. Glaze mixing is a big time commitment, requires specialized knowledge, and carries safety risks beyond most other pottery studio activities, so it’s usually done by professional potters with their own studios.
As with everything at Asmbly, dip glaze availability takes a good amount of planning and coordination. We’ve talked about this a lot in the ceramics volunteer Slack channel, already placing purchase orders for the planned glazes, developing recipes, mixing test buckets, and more! This is a multi step process and isn’t as simple as throwing sand in a bucket- we now need to test the glazes before mixing up $700 of them, so there will be some time before they are available.
Like everything in the building, this is being done on a volunteer basis, so there’s a factor of “it happens when it happens”. If you’d like to help with this work, the best next step is to connect with Sid for onboarding to slack, and we can continue the discussion there!
