For the past several weeks I have booked time in the woodshop, only to find no open tables. Not sure what’s going on. People staying past their time or people working on large projects that take more than one table. Either way it’s not cool.
Same. Had to work off to the side by the CNCs the other day. I’m new so didn’t say anything but agree that’s what the schedule if for.
This has happened to me in the past as well and I don’t really feel comfortable going around asking folks if they actually booked the table they’re working on. I think a solution would be to actually number the tables, that way you know which table is yours and if someone is using it when you come in you can let them know you’ve booked it.
If you believe there are people using the woodshop without a booking, please raise a problem report so we can verify.
It is mandatory that someone be booked on Skedda before using any tool in the workspace. If you have NOT made a reservation via Skedda, you are NOT allowed to use machines or shop areas..
In the past there has been a limitation to the idea of numbering tables. There’ve always been more woodshop related skedda booking slots available vs worktables and so the practice has been to share a table if some are full. Sometimes it is needed. As of now, the CNC has a table and @Glory2God has been puting some plans together for an additional workbench.
Asmbly has a trend of steadily getting a bit more crowded throughout the year with a peak in Decemeber. So as the year goes along, please don’t hesitate to raise an issue if you feel the woodshop (or any space) is being used without proper bookings. If you see someone blatantly disregarding the rules, you may politely remind someone to ensure they are booked. I can say for myself I have accidentally booked on a Tuesday and shown up on Monday. It’s very likely it is not negligent, so a polite reminder is always a good start.
Staff, leads, and volunteers and stewards do not hold any exceptions. If folks are using the space, they need to have it booked.
For volunteers and projects, if you know the project a will consume a tool, or a workbench, or a large portion of the space, please put a courteous booking in place or ask a lead or staff to do so so that it is more widely known there may be less availability in the space.
