Tips for Sanding Small Parts

One of my favorite projects is creating board game organizers, basically a bunch of laser-cut small boxes that fit in a larger box. They make set-up and clean-up faster, and look better than a bunch of ziplocs.

But, that means most of my parts are 1-2" pieces, which are kind of a nightmare to sand. Right now, I’m just doing these by hand, but I’m curious if y’all have any tips for speeding up the sanding process.

I use a small very very sharp & high quality, highly adjusted (small throat) block plane for this kindof thing, just a single swipe by hand on each edge—and that edge will be silky smooth :))

Happy to show you mine,

I second the block plane approach. 2-3 passes on each edge and then the same for the corners does amazing things for touch and looks.
