Pocket NC ( v1 ) repair/diagnosis

I’m trying to debug an issue I’ve been having where my Pocket NC v2 has been having issues… the spindle “stutters” when it reaches high speed rather than spinning smoothly. Even with next to zero chipload ( machining wax ) it leaves a terrible finish on parts.

Does anyone on the forum have experience with using the Pocket NC? This unit was an insurance salvage, so the Pocket NC company won’t support it ( but will sell me spare parts at cost. )

I don’t know anything about the Pocket NC. Does it have a vfd?

Looks like a brushless servo tasked as a direct-drive spindle, and that may be an encoder on the back.

If that is an encoder, poor signal from it could cause stuttering, and it may only show up at high speeds.
