Metal Shop Volunteer Day this Saturday

We will be having our monthly metal shop volunteer day this Saturday from 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm.

I don’t have a specific machine in mind for general training; instead the theme will likely be cutting fluid: mixing, reservoirs, and disposal. We will in particular look at the lathe cutting fluid system, since the pump seems to have abruptly stopped working.

There will also be some amount of painting needed, possibly just some small items but maybe the interior of the laser welder room if I get the drywall put up by then. (If not Saturday, I will likely call for volunteers for that later.)

Thanks to Julie, Ken, Carlos, and Steve for joining Savanna and me for the volunteer day. Together, we painted the new safety glasses holders, completely cleaned out two vacuums and two cutting fluid reservoirs, and mixed a large supply of the primary cutting fluid.

The next metal shop volunteer day will be September 27, though I suspect James and I will be putting out calls for help sooner as we get the fiber laser and laser welder online.
