Latest Updates and News from ATXHS

As most of you are probably aware, the latest update from Mayor Adler on the Stay Home - Work Safe Order extends restrictions to May 8th. Additionally, fabric face coverings are now mandatory when conducting essential activities or work.

We are working with a team of ATXHS members to devise a plan on how we will reopen as the time comes for us to do so. Our goal is to work within the legal bounds set and get members back in the space in a way that is safe and continues to support the efforts and sacrifices that have been made to maintain public health.

Thank you for your patience and sticking with us in whatever capacity you are able to during this time!

Volunteer PPE assemblers needed!

The ATXHS COVID Responders team has been working hard and producing a lot of PPE! Gowns were made for the fire department to use while administering tests (the ones we donated are their favorites to use!), lots of cloth masks have been sewn in coordination with COVID Rangers, and we’ve made over 530 face shields.

The feedback we have received from members working on this effort is that we are in dire need of volunteers for assembling these face shields. We may have a very large request coming in for 1,000 face shields and we’ll need more help with assembling to be able to meet that request in a timely manner.

If you are interested in joining the effort to assist, here’s what to do:

  1. Make sure you have joined the ATXHS COVID Discussion Google Group - this is where communication and updates are often sent to coordinate efforts. If you are not familiar with that process, you can find instructions on this Google help page. If you have any difficulty joining, please reach out to for assistance.

  2. Sign up for a time slot to assist at ATXHS using this spreadsheet. Review the guidelines on this spreadsheet and understand that signing up for a timeslot is an agreement to follow the stated rules. An important policy to note is that the only authorized work at ATXHS is COVID response projects and critical maintenance of the space/tools. No personal work is allowed at this time.

  3. If you are assisting and incur any expenses related to this work such as materials, shipping, etc. submit for reimbursement through Open Collective here. If you have any questions or difficulty with this, please email for help.

Another way to assist in the efforts of this team is to share the GoFundMe page with your social networks. This fund empowers us to make sure all makers are reimbursed for their expenses and unhindered by cost in their efforts to assist those in need of protection.
