I started to look into this several years ago, but there were restrictions on payload size that killed my project. I would like to check out the meeting find out more about Mission and Payload. Sounds like fun.

12lbs for payload maximum. With each module maximum of 6lbs.

Source for that ? Last I checked it was 6lbs total.

High Altitude Weather Balloon Laws and Regulations — Launch with Us.

Just reading the rules, you can also comply with subpart D if you want to go heavier then 12 lbs. eCFR :: 14 CFR Part 101 -- Moored Balloons, Kites, Amateur Rockets, and Unmanned Free Balloons The rules seem very forgiving. Launching from the north side of Austin (I can look up the exact line, but if you get north of Kramer, I think that’ll be about right) will keep your clear of the class C airspace. I can get you the number for Austin Tower, and a screenshot of the current sectional so you’ll know exactly where the lines are.
