hi guys – so I have a boat project I’m working on. it’s been held up for about a year while I tried to find a replacement trailer for it – something both rated for the weight and long enough was not easy to find – but that hurdle is crossed now. I have to:
- modify it to fit correctly
- transfer the boat to it (this part I have covered)
- answer a bunch of questions about stuff like:
- the deck consists of panels that are screwed down and also caulked. I don’t know whether the caulk was done at the factory or not, but I would sort of like to get rid of it so I can open the panels, remove the fuel tanks I won’t be using and work out what the space options are in there.
- the electrical panel in the cabin is utterly mystifying to me and I need someone to help me sort out what goes where.
- (the exciting part) I have most of a solar-electric powertrain for this thing already purchased and tested. I could really use help figuring out what the best way to install it is; ideally I’d like to have the 48V battery bank under the deck, with 48V running both to the motor and to the closest sensible place to provide 12V power to a number of accessories in the cabin by placing a DC-DC converter there.
does anyone know someone (or is someone themselves) who is willing to help out with this stuff? I’m finding it rather difficult to find places or contractors willing to help someone with an older project boat. obviously this whole engagement would be paid. I’m trying to learn a lot at the same time as I work on this
