There’s a community in far east Austin that’s in a food desert, they’ve set up a very small cabinet as a neighborhood pantry, but it’s getting popular so they need something a bit bigger. If I can raise funds for materials would any of y’all be interested in helping build something like the pantries in the pictures?
This is great, thank you! Would you like to be involved in the planning and/or building? If so can add you to our group chat, if not I can reach out to arrange pick up when we have more of a gameplan.
1/26 Correction due to scheduling conflicts - next meeting will be Sun 2/1 at 4pm in in the multipurpose room
Good start at our first meeting, we have the beginning of a plan and will meet again on Thurs 1/29 3-4pm in the multipurpose room if @Allzman or anyone else would like to join us
I’m building my first little free library, and I just joined, so helping with this or at least observing would be great for learning and getting to know some of you.
So just sat down with Chanda for about 15 minutes, in our discussion we talked about staging for the project in woodshop. Just as an FYI, woodshop will be shutdown Feb. 20-22 for new dust collection system going online. So lots of things and areas will be moving around. So may not want to have the project sitting around the area until after the dust collection build if we anticipate multiple days/week build.
I spoke with Robert about same - he wants dimensions of what we’d be looking to “hold” in woodshop, but he seemed amenable to supporting us beyond the standard 7-days on the WIP tag.
