Background: The Far East Austin community (who we built the food pantry for) puts on an annual Halloween Haunted House for the local kids in the area. Previous years they’ve had it in the neighborhood between two houses and at the high school. This year they have permission to build it at Central Health Hornsby Bend Health & Wellness Center and they want to make it bigger and more impressive than ever before. It’s all put on by local residents who donated their time, $, and diy skills for the kids to enjoy Halloween.
Would anyone be interested in forming a group to build a feature for the haunted house? One idea is a wall or tunnel of skeletons with motion activated animatronics and lights, but really we can do whatever we want.
Also, if you don’t have time for a group project but would like to help in other ways and have building, costuming, special effects, acting, make-up, or any other relevant experience I can put you in contact with the organizers.
The haunted house itself runs from 5pm - 10pm 10/29 thru 10/31 and I believe they’ll start building/framing the main structures in late August. It will be two 900 ft structures connected by a 14 ft path.
