Last night was an atypical night: we encountered the studio empty and quite clean. So, we decided to work on a few maintenance tasks and leave cleaning sinks for the end.
We still washed aprons and cleaned the famous clay collection trap, and got rid of discarded clay bags, but also checked supplies like glazes and clay.
Sam and I mixed a commercial Mayco Stoneware dipping glaze to test it. We are bringing them as an alternative from tubes, while the house dippings are still being developed, so that members have options during the busy holiday season. The test tile is in the shelves to be fired. Fingers crossed!
Elizabeth got handy with tools and reversed the support tables at the wheels in no time: impressive!
We also created more signs and laminated the existing ones, particularly those at the glazing area and close to sinks.
When I compare the first volunteer days with yesterday, I can see we’ve gone pretty far: our current storage room now is easy to navigate and find things; members seem to be getting a knack at how things need to be stored back in place and the sinks were not so full of tools. We are all finding our way to share the space, even as we gro to up to 60 members…
Thank you, @EEatx and @samiamdam!
