I’ve been building a marketplace for 3D print files called Citrate (citrate.app). Designers keep 80% of what they sell instead of a platform taking most of it, and there’s a built-in way to request custom work directly from a designer too.
I print on FDM and do my own CAD work (SolidWorks/Fusion), so this came out of things that actually bugged me as a maker, not just some idea from outside the community.
It’s still in early development. If you’ve got a few minutes, I’d really appreciate you checking it out and telling me what’s confusing, missing, or just doesn’t work. Not trying to sell anyone on anything, just want honest feedback before I keep building on top of it.
And if you design your own stuff and want to list something, I’d love to have you as one of the first people on there. No pressure either way, I just figured this group would give me the most honest take.
Very sluggish on home page, cursor movement is delayed, are you running some sort of animation loop? Or should I just blame it on my old machine…
P.S. Also with the advent of numerous AI slop models, you might be at the wrong moment in time to attempt this site. But who am I to judge. It’s just an idea that this video suggested it to me.
Thanks for the feedback about the sluggishness, yeah the animation on the homepage was running unthrottled, that should be fixed now. About the AI slop, yeah there’s a lot of people making pure AI slop right now and a lot of it is low effort. I personally use AI as a tool, I’m not proficient enough in HTML to make a good secure website so I use it to fill in my knowledge gaps. I would much rather pay someone to make a website for me but I don’t have the capital for that, I definitely get the skepticism though.
