Very likely the sand paper belt was hitting the limit switch. When that is tripped, nothing will turn on.

The belt seems to be tracking too far quite a bit. Yesterday I helped two folks with the realignment within 2 hours. Either I’m doing it wrong, or something else is going on!

Just tested, and that’s definitely what’s happening. the sand papers not centered and it’s hitting the limit switch. I readjusted the sandpaper so it’s working again this morning, but cant say it wont go out of alignment again over time

Thanks. I didn’t look into it at the time, figured it was something like that.

Update: ajusted the drift while i was sanding. Got it to go for 4ish minutes before going out of alignment. Adjusted it one last time and used it for another 4ish minutes without problem.

Note: the instructions on the inside panel of the belt say to turn a knob clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the drift based on if that drift is to the left or the right. The LEFT is the side of machine closest to the wall

If the belt is rotating but not oscillating back and forth, it isn’t operating correctly. It’s designed to move slowly side to side while staying centered. It may appear to run fine without oscillating for a short period (in this case about four minutes), but it will eventually drift and trip the limit switch.
This issue is often made worse when people start adjusting settings without fully understanding them. The setup and adjustments are straightforward, and anyone using the sander should be familiar with them.

I’ll be there tomorrow and will take a look

The sander belt is oscillating the right way and seems to be operating fine . There is of course a ridiculous amount of sawdust in the interior and on the outside of the machine itself.
Cleaning after using won’t hurt anything.
