Problem Type: Equipment
Workspace: Woodshop
Asset: 24" Resaw Band Saw - Grizzly G0569
Summary: The saw will not power on
Additional Info: Somebody walked up to me while I was sawing telling me to stop what and not knowing what the issue was I hit the estop (I normally use the footbrake) when I gently twisted the red button it reset like normal but it will not start now. I checked that the brake was all the way up but no change.

I looked at the breaker, plug, opened up the front panel and double-checked the wiring on the e-stop. There’s no apparent cause. I did not have time to pull out a multimeter and check circuits

Following this thread as I’d love to know when it’s back up!

Robert,

After we looked at the saw I thought that we might be able to troubleshoot which component may be faulty by swapping them out with one of the smaller bandsaws. I can also bring my multimeter up tomorrow if you’d like to check into the issue more thoroughly.

Hey that’s not a bad thought

Please make sure the components can be swapped before doing so, especially on the electrical side.

I know the resaw bandsaw is a 3pole and components are similar but I don’t believe all are interchangeable

The saw was fine yesterday afternoon - no components were switched were they ?

I did not touch them yesterday.

This has been covered before. If saw won’t start, manually try to raise the break pedal. It has a little play where it stays down. Re-set red emergency button, Wiggle key back n forth, try to start. You may have to repeat this process with a two step dance and try not to give the finger to the band saw. I used it yesterday no problems, ran some walnut 5”boards, 6” mesquite, and some 5” Mahogany. I stopped it and re-started the machine around ten times and worked fine. Except that I just turned the key to “0,” no red button, no break pedal just let the machine coast down. If you touch the red button, break pedal, or both, good luck trying to get it started. THE BLADE IS DULL AND A LITTLE BENT SO IF YOU DONT TAKE YOUR TIME, AGAIN GOOD LUCK!

I agree, I tried all the above, multiple times. I vacuumed the saw out focusing on the three main switches and the foot pedal switch, the gremlin wouldn’t leave. I’m glad it’s working again but it frustrating.
